Who is this course for?

For cloud, security and automation learners comfortable with a terminal, HTTP, JSON and basic authentication. Terraform knowledge is optional. Check the current vendor objectives before booking.

WHAT YOU WILL STUDY

Course outline

These are the current StudyKernel modules, with examples of the lessons in each. Check the vendor outline for the full exam scope and your planned exam date.

Authentication

Identify a human or workload and understand the client token returned after login.

  • Follow a secret request from identity to permission
  • Choose authentication for a person or workload
  • Connect login aliases to consistent identities

Policies

Trace exact paths, capabilities and combined permissions before testing access.

  • Read policy paths as API boundaries
  • Match capabilities to the actual operation
  • Evaluate combined policies without guessing precedence

Tokens

Choose token types and reason about lifetime, renewal, accessors and parentage.

  • Choose a service or batch token for its lifecycle
  • Calculate token expiry from the returned lifetime
  • Design token parentage and revocation scope

Leases

Distinguish credential validity from token lifetime and limit revocation scope.

  • Track a dynamic secret’s lease separately
  • End leased authority and verify the backend result

Secrets engines

Use KV v2, dynamic credentials, mounts and response wrapping correctly.

  • Choose and enable the right secrets engine
  • Read and write KV v2 through the real API shape
  • Use versions, deletion and CAS deliberately

Encryption as a service

Encrypt data, rotate keys and migrate ciphertext with explicit compatibility checks.

  • Encrypt without distributing the raw encryption key
  • Rotate key versions without losing older data

Architecture fundamentals

Explain the barrier, seal lifecycle and correct CLI/API configuration.

  • Understand the encryption barrier and its limits
  • Initialize once and unseal the intended node
  • Set the client context without leaking credentials

Deployment architecture

Separate availability, quorum, key custody, replication and managed service responsibilities.

  • Design a cluster rather than count servers
  • Understand storage state and Raft quorum
  • Use shares to distribute unseal custody

Access management architecture

Compare Agent, direct API and Kubernetes secret delivery and verify application use.

  • Let Agent handle supported authentication and rendering
  • Understand the Kubernetes Secret synchronization boundary

Build understanding before practising

Trace identity, client tokens, policy paths and secret lifecycles. Predict the allowed operation, granted expiry or retained version before checking your answer. An optional isolated local workbook tests the real CLI behaviour.

How a study session works

  1. Read the lesson. Follow the ideas, diagrams and worked examples at your own pace.
  2. Check your understanding. Answer the topic checks and read why an answer works.
  3. Finish and continue. Complete the lesson checks to unlock your next lesson. Missed answers stay in mistake review so you can revisit them later.

The questions are original study practice, not real exam questions or exam dumps. Practice scores do not predict an exam pass, and completing a StudyKernel course does not award a vendor credential.

What is free?

Every course lesson, lesson quiz and module checkpoint is available on the Free plan. You also get your certification roadmap, saved progress and 10 extra practice questions each day.

Pro adds unlimited extra practice, flashcards, full timed practice sets and detailed topic insights. It is optional; the guided lessons stay free.
